The Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, has flagged off free daily meals for Muslim faithful in the community to break their fast during the ongoing Ramadan.

The meals are being prepared daily at the monarch’s palace in Oro to ease hardship among the less privileged.

The feeding programme, which commenced at the start of Ramadan, will run throughout the holy month.

The palace has since become a gathering point for fasting Muslims who troop in every evening to benefit from the initiative.

Oba Olufayo, a Christian, described the gesture as his personal contribution to the wellbeing of his subjects and residents of Oro Kingdom.

He noted that this year’s Ramadan coincides with the Christian Lent season, describing the development as a strong symbol of religious tolerance and unity.

According to the monarch, the initiative is aimed at bringing relief to families struggling with economic challenges, especially during the sacred period.

He urged residents to embrace peaceful coexistence and avoid divisive tendencies, stressing that spiritual growth and mutual understanding are vital to national development.

The traditional ruler also disclosed that some individuals have begun supporting the initiative and called on wealthy members of the community to partner with the palace to expand the feeding programme and reach more vulnerable people during the holy month.
