Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Otte/Budo-Egba Waterworks in Asa Local Government Area, aimed at deepening access to clean and safe water for residents.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in Otte town, Governor AbdulRazaq, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, said the completion of the 500,000-litre capacity project reflects his administration’s commitment to modernizing water infrastructure across the state.
Governor AbdulRazaq explained that the project will not only provide clean water but also improve public health and enhance education, as children will no longer spend hours searching for water instead of being in school.

He commended the contractors, development partners, and the people of Otte and its environs for their cooperation and patience, assuring that the government will continue to invest in the water sector as access to clean water remains a fundamental right of every citizen.
The Governor also listed other ongoing rehabilitation works at Omu-Aran, Oyun, and Sobi Waterworks, reaffirming his administration’s determination to ensure every part of Kwara has safe water supply.
In their goodwill messages, the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources, Mr Yunus Oniboki, and Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Usman Yunusa Lade, described the project as a major relief for residents and urged communities to safeguard the facility against vandalism.

Similarly, Chairman of Asa Local Government, Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Amasa, and other dignitaries including Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja and Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, praised the Governor for the gesture, describing it as a life-changing development for the people of Otte and its environs.
Residents of Otte and environs expressed excitement and gratitude, saying that the project has ended years of hardship in accessing potable water, especially during the dry season.
