Road Network: Elerinjare Community Seeks Government Intervention

The People of Elerinjare Community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have appealed to the State Government to help intervene in the construction of the 3.7 kilometre Idofian-Elerinjare road to save their lives.

A statement issued by the spokesperson of the community, Mallam Abdulhakeem Garba on behalf of the Olu-Sabi of Elerinjare Ibobo land, Oba Tajudeen Olanrewaju Bello, indicates that people of the area have had harrowing experience due to bad state of the road.

The statement notes that the road had never been constructed by any government, indicating that the road was first awarded for construction during the first term of Governor Bukola Saraki in 2003 and the second term of the immediate past Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, without its construction seeing the light of the day.

It explains that it is always a challenge yearly for indigenes that travelled far and near to access the agrarian community due to flood.

Idofian-Elerinjare road, when constructed, would benefit other adjoining agrarian communities such as Oko-Okuta and Okoya, maintaining that it would also reduce man hour spent travelling on the road.

According to the statement, communal efforts had been sustained the road from getting dilapidated, stressing that each household is levied every year, especially, during raining season to maintain the road.

It adds that it is through collective efforts of members of the community that primary and secondary schools, electricity, as well as hand pump boreholes are provided for the residents.

The statement therefore appeals to the state government to come to the aid of Elerinjare community by providing basic facilities with a view to improving living standard of the people.
