Former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State to remain united and resolute as the party approaches a critical stage in its rebuilding process.

Saraki made the call during a pre-national convention dinner held at his Abuja residence, where Kwara delegates, aspirants, state executives, and other key stakeholders gathered to strategize ahead of the convention.

Describing the forthcoming convention as a defining moment for the party, Saraki stressed the need for collective sacrifice and unwavering commitment, noting that the exercise represents the final phase in positioning the PDP as a strong platform capable of reclaiming political leadership in the state.

According to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki expressed gratitude for the progress made so far, saying, “Alhamdulillah that we are at this point.

This convention is very important to us—not just as a party, but as a state seeking a credible platform for contest.”

The former Kwara State governor urged aspirants to approach the post-convention primaries with maturity, emphasizing that the contest should not be seen as a “do-or-die affair,” but as a collective mission aimed at securing victory for the party.

“What is important is PDP winning and salvaging our state,” he said, noting that all stakeholders, including himself, have made sacrifices toward the party’s resurgence.

Saraki called for sustained unity beyond the convention, urging members to immediately commence grassroots mobilization across wards and local government areas, with active involvement of party executives, youth groups, and directorates.

“We should all be committed and stay together for the sake of our state,” he added.

In a reconciliatory move, Saraki extended an olive branch to members of opposing camps, assuring that the PDP remains inclusive and open to accommodating all who are willing to join efforts to rebuild Kwara State.

“Our doors are open. Many are suffering in silence—we can accommodate as many as possible for the sake of the state,” he said.

He also criticized what he described as the “bad narrative” under the current administration, expressing confidence that the PDP would reclaim the state and usher in a new era of prosperity.

“PDP shall resecure the state and lead it to prosperity,” Saraki declared, reaffirming that “PDP is a family affair.”
