Two persons have lost their lives in a fatal tanker explosion at Pasa village, along the Ilorin–Jebba highway in Kwara State.

The victims, the tanker driver and his motor boy, died instantly when the vehicle, loaded with 30,000 litres of petrol, lost control, overturned, and caught fire around 3:43 p.m. on Tuesday.

Head of Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Mr Hakeem Hassan, said emergency crews responded swiftly to the scene and contained the inferno, but the two occupants could not be rescued.

Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, commiserated with the families of the deceased and advised motorists to regularly service their vehicles, obey speed limits, avoid night journeys, and carry functional fire extinguishers to reduce the risk of such tragedies.
