
Three Inmates Regain Freedom In Kwara State
Three Inmates at the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Ilorin, Kwara State, have regained freedom.
The inmates were pardoned by the State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara when he visited the Old Ilorin Custodial Centre at OkeKura and the New Custodial Centre at Mandala.
The Chief Judge was accompanied to the centres by Justice Ibijoke Olawoyin, the Registrar, State High Court, Mrs Kudirat Yahaya and other stakeholders in the Criminal Justice Department.
The Chief Judge affirmed that the facilities in the States are overcrowded hence the need for him to grant pardon to inmates whose cases had stayed long in court, has terminal illnesses and committed minor offences.
The Chief Judge advised the released inmates to stay-off crime.
Meanwhile, the State Controller of Corrections, Danmairomu Ayodeji, on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa, applauded the Chief Judge, members of his entourage and urged the released inmates to be of good conduct and comply with the norms of the society.
