
Kwara State Health Insurance Agency, KWHIA will commence enrollment of people with Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDs by June, 12 this year.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, announced this in Ilorin, during a meeting with stakeholders on modalities for implementation of the initiative in Kwara State.
Dr Jetawo-Winter stated that the scheme would enroll all residents across the sixteen local government areas living with tuberculosis and HIV/AIDs.
She explained that under the initiative, people living with HIV/AIDs, and tuberculosis will now have unfettered access to healthcare services including treatment for malaria, infections, surgery or pregnancy.
Dr Jetawo-Winter noted that the health insurance cover is renewable at the end of one year.
She appealed to the concerned persons to visit the facilities to register for the scheme for them to receive their HIV/AIDs and Tuberculosis drugs intervention.
In a remark, Member, House Committee on Health and Environment, Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr Seun Ogunniyi commended the Agency’s efforts and commitment in promoting inclusion and enhancing the health of every residents.
Mr Oguniyi urged the agency to orientate the people about the scheme and ensure proper implementation of the scheme across all the LGAs.
