Senator representing Kwara South at the National Assembly, Oyelola Ashiru has been endorsed as 2027 Kwara Governoship candidate by a Tinubu support youth group, City Boy Builds Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the official unveiling of Senator Ashiru’s governorship aspiration on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC, in Ilorin, the group described him as a credible, experienced, and unifying progressive leader.
Anchor of the Group, Intellect Bashir Alabi-Erubu, during the presentation of the communique, stated that the endorsement came on the heels of a wider consultation with stakeholders across the four local government areas of Kwara Central: Ilorin West, Ilorin South, Ilorin East and Asa.
He cited what they described as Senator Ashiru’s political maturity, consistency, legislative competence, and loyalty to progressive ideals, among other qualities, as reasons for the endorsement.
“Senator Ashiru’s political maturity, consistency, legislative competence, loyalty to progressive ideals, and proven bridge- building capacity clearly distinguish him as the right leader to consolidate existing gains, strengthen unity, and drive inclusive and sustainable development.
“The assembly expressed strong confidence in his ability to effectively domesticate and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda in Kwara State for the benefit of all citizens,” he added.
Speaking with newsmen, the State Mobilizer of City Boy Builds Nigeria, Comrade Hameed Bolaji Dollar, said the senator has contributed immensely, not only to his constituency but to Kwara State in general, particularly in the areas of empowerment and infrastructure development.
“We see what he has been doing, talk about security, talk about empowerment, talk about infrastructure and so many things.
“We have confidence in him, we believe him and we know he can do it–he’s a progressive-minded person and he has been on this game for a very long time”.
The group added that its ideals align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government, with a deliberate mission to mobilize young people, deepen civic participation, and support policies that drive economic growth.
The City Boy Build Nigeria movement also commended the efforts of the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq–led administration, especially in areas that have sustained the progressive governance tradition in Kwara State.
