Cleric Cautions Muslims Against Celebrating Maulud Nabiyy
Muslims have been cautioned against celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad as there is no any proof of him celebrating the day.
An Islamic cleric, Dr Sanusi Lafiagi gave the advice while speaking with Radio Nigeria – Harmony FM on the significance of Maulud Nabiyy to Muslims.
Dr Sanusi explained that though the birth of Prophet Muhammad was one the most significant events in history but there was no available record of him celebrating the day he was born.
He admonished Muslims to adhere strictly to the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and stressed the importance for them to love and respect the Prophet as well as propagate his teachings.
The Islamic cleric explained that the religion of Islam is built upon firm proofs from established sources, adding that loving the Prophet is not seasonal affair but an all year round endeavour.
