The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has received the Federal Government-constructed Primary Healthcare Centre from Babaloma community during an official handover held at the facility.

The Primary Healthcare Centre, built and well-equipped by the Federal Government to strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots, was handed over to the Local Government for active and sustained use.

The President of Babaloma Descendants Development Union, Chief Azeez Oyelowo, appreciated the Federal Government for what he described as a milestone in the health sector aimed at promoting the wellbeing of people in rural areas.

He mentioned that with the presence of a Kwara State Government hospital and an existing Local Government health facility, Babaloma now has three functional health centres.

“We have benefited a lot from the Federal, State, and Local Governments. With this, we now have three health facilities in Babaloma. It’s helping our people to stay healthy and safe. This new centre will serve the outskirts of the community and students of Government Secondary School, Babaloma,” he said.

On his part, the Bale of Babaloma, Chief Akolade Yusuf, who conveyed the message of Oba Usman Muhammad Jimoh Ayilara, the Loma of Babaloma, to the Chairman, expressed gratitude to the Council leadership. He pointed out that although the facility is well furnished with equipment, there is a need for health personnel, electricity, and water supply to enable full operations.

The Ajiroba of Babaloma, Chief Ibrahim Lawal, appreciated the Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and Chairman Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf for their continuous efforts to improve the wellbeing of the people, especially in the area of security. He added that Ifelodun is becoming increasingly unsafe for criminal elements, thanks to ongoing interventions.

The Chairman, Hadji Femi Yusuf assured the community that operations at the healthcare centre will begin on May 1, 2025. He promised the immediate deployment of health workers and provision of electricity to the facility. He also called on the community to ensure proper accommodation for the incoming staff and urged them to work in harmony with the health personnel for the benefit of all.

The Chairman was accompanied by Chief Ibrahim Lawal (Ajiroba of Babaloma), Hon. Jodi Folurunsho, and Hon. Bamigbade Oluwasheun.
