The Kwara State Government has declared that it will continue to run an inclusive policy that will protect the rights of every child.

Governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq stated this while addressing stakeholders at the main bowl of the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin, at an event to mark 2025 Children’s Day.

Speaking on the theme, “Stand up, Speak Up: Building a Bullying Free Generation,” Governor Abdulrazaq represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties, John Bello, warned against all forms of bullying by classmates, parents and teachers or face prosecution.

Highlighting some of his achievements over the years, Governor Abdulrazaq said his administration has established ICT cabins in basic schools across the State to empower young persons with ICT skills, employed more competent teachers for robust learning, renovation of schools across the sixteen local government areas and implementation of nutrition policy.

Earlier, wife of the Governor, Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, described bullying as an abnormal act which must be addressed with compassion and firmness.

Ambassador Abdulrazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Fatima Nna, urged children to treat others with kindness and support and speak up if bullied and treat others with kindness and support, noting that her office would continue to support child-focussed policies.

In an address, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Afolashade Oluwakemi, said that Children’s Day is commemorated to reawaken parents, society and Government to their roles in child’s development.

Chief Afolashade emphasized that children should be well brought up and encourage to speak up to avoid being victims of bullying or perpetrators.

There were colorful march past by various public and private schools as well as youth based clubs such as girls guard, boys brigade, and boys scout.
