Over 7,000 Kwara Farmers Benefited from FG agricultural inputs intervention
Over 7,000 farmers in Kwara State have benefited from Federal Government agricultural inputs intervention to boast productivity and enhance food security in the country.
The inputs distributed to the farmers producing rice, soya beans, maize, Sorghum, and Cassava included organic and inorganic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and seeds.

Kwara State Coordinator of Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Bello Ismail stated this at the official inauguration of the distribution of the inputs in Ilọrin, Kwara State Capital.
While explaining that the initiative was under the National Agricultural Growth Scheme and Agro-Pocket”, 2024-Wet Season, organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Ismail noted that the inputs are targeted at genuine farmers.
Dr Ismail, who noted that the farmers were selected through their commodity association to ensure their genuineness, explained that beneficiaries of the initiative are contacted directly and a redemption code was sent to them to enable them access the inputs at the collection centre.
The State Coordinator said the farmers are expected to pay 25 per cent of the total cost of the inputs while the federal government pay the balance of 75 per cent.
He maintained that nineteen redemption centres have been opened across the 16 local government area of the state to enable farmers access the inputs easily.
Dr Bello Ismail added that the programme would be a continuous process to ensure food sufficiency in the country.

In an address, the Director Procurement, Finance and Supply, Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mayaki Babazuko Mudi stressed that the farm inputs support would go a long way in improving food production.
Mayaki Mudi appealed to the Federal Government to expand the programme to cover more farmers in Kwara State.
