Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the constitution of a seven-member committee to interface with the Woro community of Kaiama Local Government Area on humanitarian support earlier announced by the state government.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, indicates that the committee will be chaired by a former lawmaker and Kiwozi of Kugiji in Kaiama, Alhaji Muhammed Ahmed.

Other members include the Vice Chairman of Kaiama Local Government Council, Aisha Abubakar Sadiq; Alhaji Abubakar Mora; the Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu; as well as representatives of the State Emergency Management Agency, the Kwara State Social Investment Programme, and the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

The committee has four weeks to complete its assignment.

It is expected to engage community leaders on rebuilding efforts, assess the needs of survivors, and address other outstanding issues arising from the incident.

The statement adds that the intervention is part of the state government’s commitment to providing relief and long-term support to affected residents.
