
Need for enabling environment for good menstrual hygiene, especially among girls has been advocated.
Wife of Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake AbdulRazaq made the call while distributing sanitary pads in commemoration at this Year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day held at First-Lady’s office Government House, Ilorin.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs Afolashade Opeyemi, the wife of the Governor emphasized that menstrual hygiene is crucial for the well-being and future of girls, noting that it can make or mar the life of the girl child.
She also provided a practical demonstration on the proper use and disposal of menstrual pads, aimed at educating and empowering women and girls to manage their menstruation with confidence and dignity.

In his remarks, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Princess Adebukola Babalola appreciated the first-lady on the initiative and enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the item, as well as admonished the student to be disciplined as menstruation is a sign of growth into adulthood.
Some of the beneficiaries, commended the Kwara First Lady’s gesture, saying that the item would go along way.

Among the schools that participated at the programme included, Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Saint Anthony Secondary School and Government Day Secondary School Tanke, Ilorin.
