Kwara Police Ban Use Of Fireworks, Explosives During Yuletide Celebration

Kwara state police command has banned the sales and use of fireworks and other explosives during and after Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Victor Olaiya, who stated this in Ilorin, advised the residents to prioritise the security of everyone within the state.

CP Olaiya stressed that the use, sale, or distribution of fireworks, bangers, and other explosive devices pose serious security and safety risks which has the potential to create panic and serve as a cover for criminal activities.

He explained that the command has also placed restriction on the movement of motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Napep) between the hours of 9pm and 6am to ensure public safety.

The Commissioner of Police urged the public to avoid travelling late at night or alone in secluded areas.

He advised the residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or persons to the nearest security agency for prompt action.
