The Kwara State Police Command has strengthened its operational capacity with the successful completion of a two-week Combat Operations Training Programme for 112 junior police officers in Ilorin.

The officers, comprising 30 Corporals and 82 Constables, underwent intensive practical and classroom-based training at the Police Training School aimed at enhancing their tactical competence and operational effectiveness.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the participants received specialized instruction in tactical firearm handling, combat craft, rescue operations, tactical movement, rules of engagement, and other contemporary policing techniques designed to address emerging security challenges.

The training programme culminated in a closing ceremony attended by the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, alongside members of the Command’s Management Team and Divisional Police Officers.

Speaking at the event, CP Ojo commended the officers for their discipline, commitment, and significant improvement throughout the training period, describing the exercise as a critical component of effective and professional policing.

He urged the participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in combating crime and safeguarding lives and property, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to continuous personnel development in line with the vision and strategic direction of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
