Residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, have staged a roadshow to sensitize people against all forms of vices bedeviling the State.

This is at the instance of the National Orientation Agency in collaboration with the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressives Union, IEDPU, which aimed to sensitize residents against moral decadence such as cyber fraud, substance abuse and other vices.

The exercise which began at the State office of IEDPU along Sawmill Area, Ilorin, proceeded through Ibrahim Taiwo road, to the Palace of the Emir of Ilorin, at Oja Oba, to pay homage to the traditional ruler, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.

In an address at the gathering, the Director, Rights, Abuse, and Narcotics, NOA Headquarters, Abuja, Theresa Maduekwe, called for a return to the order when values were cherished and rights were upheld.

“We do not have to engage in substance abuse. They have what we call, “negative boldness and this also invite other forms of vices, rape, sexual abuse.”

“The Government will play its part, like it’s doing now, whereas we too as community members, we need to respect the law, be disciplined and at the same time, we need to have that duty of care.”

Also, the National President of IEDPU, Alhaji Abdulmumin Ayo Abdulmalik who emphasized that the campaign is a wake up call on all stakeholders to return to the path of glory, said that the sensitization exercise has come to stay.
