Kwara State Police Command has arrested 18 suspected criminals for alleged involvement in various offences across different parts of the state.

The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Ilorin.

Mr Ojo said the arrests followed a series of coordinated operations carried out by the police in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.

According to the commissioner, the suspects are being investigated for alleged offences including criminal conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms, cultism, kidnapping, culpable homicide, cattle rustling, and membership of an unlawful association.

He explained that the only female suspect among those arrested is accused of killing her co-wife’s three-year-old daughter.

Ojo attributed the successful arrests to effective collaboration among security agencies and sustained intelligence-led operations aimed at combating crime across the state.

He assured residents that all the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, in line with due process.

The commissioner also appealed to members of the public to continue providing timely and actionable intelligence to the police, stressing that community support remains vital to strengthening security and tackling criminal activities in Kwara State.
