The University of Ilorin has achieved a remarkable feat, securing 100% accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its programmes.

The result of the accreditation exercise carried out in October/November 2024, which has just been released, was contained in a letter dated April 30, 2025, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.

According to a statement issued by the University’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, out of 37 courses presented, 36 received full accreditation.

The statement further indicates that the NUC said, out of the two courses, Igbo and Hausa, that were presented for accreditation from the Faculty of Arts, Igbo was granted full accreditation, while Hausa was granted interim accreditation.

The accredited course span various faculties, including Arts, Management Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Communication and Information Sciences, Education, Engineering and Technology, Environmental Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Social Sciences.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Egbewole, expressed excitement and fulfillment over the achievement, attributing it to the university’s significant investment in human and material resources.

Prof. Egbewole said, “We are happy to be so recognised; we are indeed elated–it is our hope that we would continue to do our best to position the University for more recognitions.

“We want to assure everybody that the administration will continue to appreciate them.”

He said the achievement was a confirmation of the consistent huge investment of the University’s Administration on human and material resources, pointing out that more efforts would be made to justify the recognition.
