The Federation of Muslim Women Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) has called for increased representation of women in leadership and governance positions across the country.
The Kwara State Amirah of the association, Hajia Bilikis Oladimeji, made the call during a courtesy visit by the state executive members of FOMWAN to the General Manager of Radio Nigeria Harmony FM, Hajia Binta Abubakar Mora, in Ilorin.
Hajia Oladimeji explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration with Harmony FM ahead of the association’s 40th anniversary celebrations.
She noted that women, particularly as mothers and key stakeholders in society, have immense contributions to make towards national development if accorded adequate representation and opportunities in governance.
The FOMWAN leader also expressed concern over recent incidents of banditry in parts of Kwara State and urged government at all levels to intensify efforts to address the nation’s security challenges.
During the visit, the association presented an Iconic Award to the General Manager of Harmony FM, Hajia Binta Abubakar Mora, in recognition of her contributions and support.

In her remarks, Hajia Mora described the growing insecurity in the country as worrisome and called for renewed efforts to tackle banditry and other criminal activities.
She also prayed for the safe and speedy release of abductees and reaffirmed Harmony FM’s commitment to supporting FOMWAN through adequate publicity of its programmes and activities.
