Kwara State University, Malete says the recent one year ban of law admissions at the institution has no bearing on its existing law programmes.
The Dean, Faculty of Law at the University, Prof. Yahaya Hambali, made the clarification while speaking with Radio Nigeria, Harmony FM correspondent Azeezat Azeez.
Prof. Hambali emphasized that the suspension only applies to the 2025/2026 academic session for 100-level admissions and does not affect existing collaborations with other institutions.
He explained that the university’s law programme has received full accreditation from both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE).
“The concern has been long addressed because the course has been accredited by the Council of Legal Education, and our students are currently in school and are in 400 Level,” he said.

Prof. Hambali said the university is committed to its students and its law programme, adding that students currently enrolled in the university’s law programme will not be affected by the suspension and will continue their Studies without any interruptions.
It will be recalled that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) had suspended admissions into law programmes at the Kwara State University for the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a statement by its Director, University Relations, Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the institution reveals that the suspension is a result of a sanction imposed by the Council for Legal Education regarding its law programme accreditation.
According to the statement, KWASU currently has full accreditation from both the National Universities Commission and the Council for Legal Education to run two undergraduate law programmes: Common and Islamic Law.
