The Kwara State Government has expressed its readiness to partner with organisations for the promotion of indigenous cultural heritage.

The Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, represented by Commissioner for Youth Development, Alhaji Ndanusa Usman who stated this at the Arewa Cultural Festival held in Ilorin, said Kwara has a rich cultural history that must be preserved, promoted and passed on to the younger generation, noting that culture remains a unifying symbol for the people.

Governor Abdulrazaq emphasised that the present administration is committed to programmes that reinforce cultural identity, youth engagement and social cohesion, adding that cultural platforms such as the festival strengthen peace and unity in the region.

In a keynote address, Professor Aremu Ayinde, of Research, Enterprise and System, Abuja, represented by Dr Sahed Hassan Cisse, stressed the need for culture preservation..

Convener of the festival, Hajia Rasheedat Mohammed, said Arewa Cultural Festival was designed to celebrate the shared heritage, diversity and artistic expressions that bind the nineteen Arewa States together.

Hajia Mohammed explained that the programme also seeks to revive disappearing cultural values while providing opportunities for young people to learn, showcase and appreciate the beauty of their roots.

Participants described the event as a vibrant reminder of Arewa’s cultural wealth and a call to sustain traditions that define the region’s identity.

The festival featured traditional dances, interschool debate, poetry rendition, and trade fair.
