Super Eagles goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has strongly denied allegations of match-fixing following his temporary suspension by Tanzanian club Singida Black Stars S.C.
The former Bendel Insurance shot-stopper described the claims as unfounded, insisting that he remains committed to integrity and professionalism.
Obasogie came under scrutiny after goals conceded in Singida Black Stars’ CAF Confederation Cup clash against Flambeau du Centre, as well as an NBC Premier League fixture against Namungo FC.
Reacting to the allegations, the goalkeeper said the goals were genuine footballing errors and not acts of deliberate misconduct.
“I accept responsibility for my performance, but mistakes on the field must not be mistaken for match manipulation,” he stated.
Obasogie stressed that as an international player who represented Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, he fully understands the grave consequences of match-fixing and would never risk his reputation or career.
He also expressed readiness to appear before any disciplinary panel to defend himself, reaffirming his loyalty and commitment to his club.
