The Kwara State House of Assembly has marked the third anniversary of the 10th Legislature, reaffirming its commitment to people-centred lawmaking, accountability, and enhanced security across the state.
Speaker of the House and APC Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, made the pledge during a special anniversary session, noting that the Assembly has remained steadfast in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities since its inauguration three years ago.
According to the Speaker, the 10th Legislature has passed 23 bills and considered 88 motions, including the recently approved Power Sector Bill.
He said the Assembly’s legislative interventions have impacted critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, social welfare, and economic development.
Alhaji Danladi-Salihu also highlighted the House’s oversight functions, saying lawmakers have maintained a robust framework for monitoring government programmes and budget implementation to ensure transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources.
On security, the Speaker said the Assembly has adopted several resolutions aimed at addressing banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities.
He extended condolences to families affected by insecurity in Edu, Patigi, Kaiama, Baruten, Ekiti, Isin, and Ifelodun Local Government Areas, while expressing confidence that ongoing efforts by the Federal and State Governments, security agencies, and local communities would restore lasting peace.
The Speaker commended the cordial relationship between the Legislature and the Executive under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, describing the “O-to-ge” movement as a governance philosophy driven by the desire to deliver quality leadership and development to the people of Kwara State.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq for supporting the emergence of a governorship candidate from Kwara North Senatorial District, describing the development as a demonstration of justice, fairness, and inclusiveness.
As the Assembly enters the final phase of its tenure, Alhaji Danladi-Salihu pledged that lawmakers would remain focused on effective oversight, accountability, and policies aimed at improving the welfare and living standards of Kwarans.
The Speaker, on behalf of the leadership of the 10th Assembly, expressed appreciation to the APC leadership under Prince Sunday Fagbemi, traditional and religious leaders, members of the media, other stakeholders, and the people of Kwara State for their continued support in enabling the Legislature to fulfil its mandate.
